MuniEnvironmental Awarded Multi-Year Contract by City of Industry

MuniEnvironmental has engaged with the City of Industry to support efforts to meet compliance and implement the mandatory outreach and technical assistance program requirements of AB 341 and AB 1826. The three-year agreement, the culmination of a partnership that began in 2000, includes two additional one-year options.

“MuniEnvironmental is thrilled to partner with the City of Industry on this bar-setting project,” says MuniEnvironmental CEO and Principal Consultant Jeff Duhamel. “The work on which we are embarking will elevate standards and best practices for communities throughout not only Los Angeles County but also California.”

MuniEnvironmental was awarded the contract through a competitive bid process that included more than two dozen solicitors and a formal review by outside agencies.

In addition to providing environmental and recycling consulting services, MuniEnvironmental will assist the City with solid waste reporting documents, including identifying current best practices in solid waste reporting and regulations for solid waste franchises, developing reporting processes for the City to remain in compliance with CalRecycle and assisting City staff in updating municipal code definitions for waste types and enforcement mechanisms for haulers, residents or business owners who fail to abide by CalRecycle and City regulations. MuniEnvironmental also will propose alternate systems for solid waste recycling that may be implemented to meet required state and county standards.

The project will include not only collecting monthly tonnage and account information from current franchisees but also completing reports necessary for State compliance.

“As new legislation has created new requirements for reporting,” says Duhamel, “MuniEnvironmental is in a unique position to help the City of Industry navigate the complexities of reporting to the State.”

Consistent with the City’s goal to ensure compliance with CalRecycle and Green Building Code regulations for quantifying construction and demolition waste, MuniEnvironmental also will support the City’s interaction with CalRecycle and assist in the preparation of CalRecycle reports, including the Electronic Annual Report, in addition to participating in conference calls and annual tours with CalRecycle.

The City of Industry is an industrial suburb of Los Angeles, located in the San Gabriel Valley.

With proven expertise in the Solid Waste, Recycling and Stormwater Industries, the experienced professional staff of MuniEnvironmental provides consulting services to municipalities, governmental agencies and certain private sector businesses such as nonprofit organizations and associations, universities, hospitals and campus-style facilities attempting to implement mandated regulatory requirements while striving to preserve their leadership and administrative role with their contract service providers and the business community.
